Last week, I had the opportunity to attend and present at the Higher Education User Group’s annual Alliance conference. This year’s event took place February 26 through March 1 in St. Louis, MO, and had over 1,700 attendees – a mix of higher education and public professionals coming together to learn about different products and platforms, with a heavy emphasis on leveraging PeopleSoft.

With well over 200 sessions and dozens of presentations running concurrently, there was a large variety of topics for attendees to learn about.

Greater Focus on the Student Experience

At our booth, I spoke to several administrators and technical leads about their interest in a campus app. Many expressed how important the student experience is to recruitment, retention, and engagement – and now recognize the need for an all-in-one campus app to modernize and amplify the student experience.

Conference attendees, in general, seemed eager to learn of ways they could create a better user experience when accessing their PeopleSoft solutions. While plenty of vendors were in attendance selling PeopleSoft add-ins, no one but Modo was enabling a native experience. In addition, our ability to aggregate all essential academic and campus services and deeply personalize the app user’s experience created many “wow, that’s cool” reactions from booth visitors.

It was also a pleasure to talk with many Modo customers, including Bowling Green State University, the University of Pretoria, and the University of Texas Arlington, and hear about their campus app successes and future digital journey plans.

A Wealth Information Available to Conference Attendees

On day two of the conference, I and Modo’s Founder and President, Andrew Yu, presented and gave a demonstration of our Student Engagement Platform and its integration with PeopleSoft. The seamless integration capability eliminates the need for students and staff to download a separate application or try and use legacy PeopleSoft screens on a smartphone.

Through a branded campus app, students and faculty can more easily manage enrollment and registration (add, drop, swap, edit, and more), schedules (including mapping all classes required for a particular career path), financials, grades, profiles, and more.

The integration also leverages Modo Campus’ built-in theming, accessibility, and deep-linking capabilities, ensuring that the PeopleSoft experience is a seamless addition to a holistic campus app.If you missed our presentation, you can view Session 9983: Modernize Your PeopleSoft Experience With a Student Engagement Campus App as part of the post-conference on-demand access.

We will also be hosting our own PeopleSoft integration webinar in April, which will include more case studies and a deeper dive into how to leverage PeopleSoft and a mobile campus app throughout the student journey.

A big thank you to HUEG and premier sponsors Accenture, Oracle, Huron, and Workday for an engaging conference where we could share knowledge, collaborate and get inspired.

I look forward to next year’s conference.
