He has spent his entire 30-year career in the education industry, half as an operator of education businesses and half as an investor in quality education companies. Andy began his career developing educational software for Scholastic. After becoming Director of the Educational Technology Group, he led the creation of WiggleWorks and other award winning products. Andy then became a senior executive at Kaplan, Inc., owned by the Washington Post Company. At Kaplan, he was responsible for leading several technology enabled services businesses, both newly acquired and organically developed. He also led the migration to technology and the Internet throughout the company – a key part of a strategy of diversification from Kaplan’s test prep business. In 2000, Andy became a General Partner in Quad Partners, a private equity firm focused exclusively on the education industry. Andy joined Education Growth Partners in 2014 where he leverages his deep industry experience and operating abilities to drive investment returns across a wide range of subsectors within the education industry.

Andy holds an M.B.A. from NYU’s Stern School of Business and a B.A. in Computer Science from Brandeis University.

International Relations, Magna Cum Laude) and the Defense Language Institute, Monterey, California (Korean language program).

Sean Kae

Sean Kae is responsible for building Modo’s future growth engine, overseeing strategy and business development. In a 16+ year career at Samsung he led Strategy and Corporate Development for the company’s Innovation Center (SSIC), focusing on disruptive technologies in 5G, AI, Robotics, Digital Health and Autonomous Vehicles. Prior to SSIC, he spent more than a decade as an operational executive in Samsung’s Mobile and IT Services business units leading sales, engineering and product organizations. Prior to Samsung Sean was an early employee at Rational Software, which was acquired by IBM.

Andrew Yu

Founder and President
Andrew Yu is an expert on smartphones and mobile devices, with more than 17 years of Internet and mobile software experience in the U.S. and Asia. Prior to founding Modo Labs, Andrew led a team of mobile developers from MIT to create the MIT Mobile Framework, an open source project that started in 2007 to help universities create compelling mobile web applications. Andrew graduated from Harvard University in 1994 with a BA honors degree in physics and East Asian studies. He also studied electrical engineering and computer science at MIT. Andrew also serves on Modo Labs’ board of directors.

Eric Kim

Eric Kim has a broad range of interdisciplinary design experience, with a specific emphasis on the architecture and visual design of web and mobile applications for clients from technology startups to Fortune 500 enterprises to non-profits. Eric’s emphasis in all of his design work is on making technology-driven experiences not just functional, but enjoyable and enlightened as well. Eric graduated with honors from Harvard University with a degree in Visual and Environmental Studies, concentrating in architecture and graphic design.

GM, Higher Education, and VP, Strategy & Partnerships

Andrew is the General Manager of Higher Education and leads initiatives that drive innovation and growth in the sector. He is also responsible for the company’s overall strategic direction and developing & managing its partnerships ecosystem. Before Modo Labs, Andrew worked at Unqork, the no-code platform for enterprise, where he led all system integrator, consulting, and cloud alliances. Before Unqork, Andrew held several strategy and business development roles within Samsung’s enterprise mobility businesses, including four years in Korea at the chairman’s office Global Strategy Group. Andrew holds an MBA and Masters of International Affairs from Columbia University and a BA from Colby College.

Diane Carlson

Chief Marketing Officer
Diane Carlson is responsible for Modo’s global marketing efforts, spanning demand generation, branding, product, digital, & field marketing. Her recent experience includes P&L leadership of Samsung SDSA’s Digital Innovations Team with multi-functional responsibility that resulted in 4x YoY growth. Diane has a 20-year executive track record helping companies to fuel sales, create customer value, and successfully market through IPO and/or acquisition.

Mark Howden

As VP of Client Services, Mark is a customer champion, focused on helping our customers create transformative workplace and campus digital experiences. With 20+ years of enterprise software and solution experience, Mark has a proven track record of providing customers with innovative solutions that drive their businesses, coupled with a relationship of trust and partnership. Most recently, Mark was head of Development Services at Samsung Electronics, building and delivering mobile B2B solutions to increase enterprise customer efficiencies and revenues.

Pete Akins

VP of Engineering
Pete Akins brings over two decades of web and mobile application experience to his role as VP of Engineering. At Modo Labs, he has developed and managed the core foundation and architecture that powers Kurogo Mobile Campus and its cloud infrastructure. Prior to Modo, Pete worked at the University of Cincinnati where he developed internal applications used for student registration, facilities management, and resource schedules. He has a degree in Architecture from the University of Cincinnati.

Mark Peterson

Chief Information Security Officer

As Chief Information Security Officer, Mark is responsible for the security of Modo’s data, systems, assets, and platform. He ensures implementation and maintenance of Modo’s information security and privacy programs. Before joining Modo, Mark founded his own consulting company advising startups as a technologist and product leader. Mark’s experience includes being a product manager and leader for SaaS/PaaS companies such as Unqork and NS1 where he owned cloud delivery and networking solutions for DNS, DHCP and IP Address Management. He has a degree in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology and a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Kennesaw State University.

Harsh Paleja

VP of Product Management
Harsh Paleja leads Product, AI, and Analytics functions at Modo Labs, driving innovation-focused product strategy and execution across HigherEd and Enterprise verticals. With extensive experience in software product development and AI-driven solutions, he has a proven track record of scaling platforms that drive significant revenue growth and enhanced customer satisfaction through strategic product expansion and engagement initiatives. Prior to Modo Labs, Harsh held product leadership roles at Unqork, Pegasystems, and Liberty Mutual Insurance, where he spearheaded the development of no-code platforms, AI-powered end user experiences, and transformative digital solutions. Harsh regularly represents Modo at industry webinars, conferences, and executive-level engagements. He is passionate about mentoring aspiring product leaders in platform strategy and AI product development and actively participates in Product meet-ups in the Greater Boston area. He holds an MS in Computer Science from Boston University and a BS in Computer Engineering (Minor: Economics) from Rochester Institute of Technology.
